It mentions wife Dorcas; sons James, Samuel, Thomas, Sylvester dec'd, & Elisha; and daughters Tabitha Sweet, Lydia w/o John Johnson, Almy w/o Amos Vaughn, Wait w/o George Wightman, Mary w/o Charles (should read Pardon) Tillinghast, Sarah w/o William Sleid, and susannah w/o Charles Sleid; grandson Luther Sweet s/o son Sylvester dec'd.

    Sylvester married Waite Brown 7 Oct 1748, Portsmouth, RI. Waite (daughter of Joseph Brown and Abigail Unknown) was born 7 Oct 1730, Scituate, RI; died 21 Mar 1757. [Group Sheet]

    The will of James Sweet of Portsmouth is dated 23 Apr 1718 and proved 13 Dec 1725. It refers to, but does not name, his former wife; mentions present wife Mary; sons Thomas, James, & Samuel; two sons-in-law: William Hill and William Allen.

    James's wife has been identified as Mary Greene, who is probably his second wife. (The American Genealogist, Vol 48, p 224)
