    Notes:

    The 1900 Federal Census says Charles was born in March 1868.

    In 1900 and 1910 the family is living at Warwick, RI.

    In 1920 Charles & Elizabeth are in Providence. A niece, Veronica Bergin, age 28, is with them. In 1930 they are at 41 Harrison, Providence. Their daughter, Elsie Spaulding, is with them, along with three grandchildren: Norbert, Ruth, & Kenneth Spaulding.

    Charles married Elizabeth Ann "Lizzie" McManus 10 Feb 1891, RI. Elizabeth was born Mar 1865, MA; died 17 Feb 1938, Providence, RI; was buried , St. Mary's Cemetery, Church St., West Warwick, RI. [Group Sheet]

    According to census records, Elizabeth's parents were born in the Irish Free State. Also, she had 6 children, two of whom are still living in 1910.

    Notes:

    In the 1860 Federal Census, William & Mary J. Remington are living at Smithfield, Providence, Co., RI. They have four children: William J., Mary E., Jonathan, & Albert.

    Apparently after his second marriage William & his wife Sarah moved to New Bedford, where they are found in the 1870 census. However, they are back in Coventry, RI by the 1880 census.

    In later years he lived with his son Jonathan S. Remington at Greenville (Smithfield). He died at age 87, and the obituary was in The Evening Bulletin, Providence, as well as the New Bedford newspaper.

    The birth record of son Charles gives William's birthplace as Warwick, RI.

    William married Sarah F. Keech Aft 1868. Sarah was born 7 Jul 1845, Warwick, RI; died 12 Jul 1931, West Warwick, RI. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    In the 1830 Federal Census "Aretus" is shown as residing at Tyringham, Berkshire County, MA.

    In the 1850 Federal Census, Aretus S. & Susan are living at Abingdon, Luzerne Co., PA, with six of their children: Susan 20, Holden 18, John 15, Aretus 13, Martha 9, and Emerald 3. All of the family members are listed as born in RI, except Susan, the older daughter.

    According to the 1850 census data, all of these family members were born in RI. Perhaps the census taker assumed too much?

    In the 1870 US Census, Aratus is living in Dartmouth, MA. Nearby in New Bedford, MA, are four of his sons, including William, and William's son, Jonathan Stedman Remington.

    His birth is recorded at New Bedford, MA, as 1 June 1804.

    He was probably named after his uncle by marriage, husband of Huldah.
