In the 1920 Federal Census, William & Margaret Nesbit, ages 57 & 55, are living on Bluff St., East Providence, RI. According to the census data, they immigrated in 1896. In their household in 1920 are four daughters: Margaret B., Mary W. Bennett, Elsie G. K., & Laura B.. Mary is married to John Bennett, who is also in the household, along with their two daughters, Laura & Lillian. William is a painter, interior.

In the 1930 Federal Census, William & Margaret are aged 68 & 65. They are living on Church Ave. in Warwick, RI. Their daughter Margaret, 43, is with them, as well as a widowed sister-in-law, Mary First (?), aged 72, born in England.

William was an artist who at one time directed the interior decorating at Providence City Hall and other public buildings in the capital city.

According to relative Ian Nisbet, William and Margaret and family sailed on the SS Peruvian and arrived in Boston on 14 Oct 1896. William's occupation was listed as "house painter."

4055 In the 1900 Federal Census, this family is living in the northeast section of Johnston, RI. There is a street named Jenckes Lane off Route 44, probably named after this family. When I was very young, we went to visit Eliza, or "Cousin Lida," there.

According to the burial permit at Coventry, Thomas committed suicide with a gunshot to his mouth.

According to the census data, they have been married 14 years, and Thomas's wife has had 8 children, 4 of whom are still living. Thomas is a farmer. They have four children in the household: Carver (?) P. 12, Harry M. 10, Rensi (or Renie) 8, & Glenn 6. At this time Thomas's mother, Hannah Remington, is living at Logan, Blaine Co., OK.

In the 1910 Federal Census, Thomas Remington is age 47, a widower, occupation -- engineer/running engine, living on Main Street at Watonga, Blaine Co., OK. With him are three of their children: Harry E. 20, Rena 18, & Glen N. 16. Also there is Thomas's niece, Hannah Irion, age 13. Thomas's mother, Hannah, died in January of 1910.

In 1920 Thomas is age 58, an engineer at an oil field, still living at Watonga, OK. He has remarried to Maud, 40 KS. With them is daughter Rena, 27 SD.

In 1930 Thomas is age 68, a widower again, still at Watonga, OK.

4061 In the 1900 Federal Census, William & Emma A. Andrews, ages 39 & 29, are living at 325 State St., Bristol, RI. They have a son William, age 4. Also in the home is Matilda Myer, mother-in-law, age 53, born Germany.

In 1910 the family is living at 685 Crosky in Philadelphia, PA; William H. Andrews is 50, Emma is 38, and son William is 14. William Sr.'s occupation appears to be Piano Polisher or (?) Polester. In 1920 they are at 273 Larchwood Ave. in Philadelphia, but they must have been to Florida because they have a 7-year-old daughter named Florida who was born in FL. William Sr.'s occupation is given as guard at U.S. Supply spot (?).

William died that year, 1920, on the 24th of some month -- I don't know which. I can't locate the other three family members in the 1930 census.

In 1910 they are still at Hingham, on Fort Hill St. They have two children: Helana R. 10 & Ralph R. 5. According to the census data they have had one more child that died.

In 1920 the family is still in Hingham, on New Bridge St.

Acording to the census data, they have been married 19 years; Frances has had 5 children, two of whom are living. The census gives Worden's birth date as Oct 1854. A Remington genealogy from Valorie Sherman gives his dob as 18 Oct 1858; this seems more likely than Dec 1859.

In 1910, Worden Remington is age 53 and widowed, living at Horicon, NY, with his two sons.

In the 1920 Federal Census, Worden Remington is age 59 and widowed, living at Horicon, Warren Co., NY.

In 1930 Worden M. Remington is age 72, still at Horicon, NY. With him is his sister Jennie Thatcher, Jennie's husband William, and other family members.

Worden is still at Horicon in 1930 with the Thatcher family.

Emily Ann died at age 31 (Death ref: Vol. 7b p. 76).

Emily Annie Lack was buried on the 2nd November 1903 in Mansfield Cemetery.

In 1920, Alma Remington is age 49 and still at Chicago. They are at 2800 Emerald Ave., next to or with John & May (Remington) Riplow and their five children. According to the census data, Alma immigrated in 1888. In the household with her are daughter Maud, 21, and son Joseph, 19. Alma is a practical nurse and Joseph is a chauffeur.

Alma's maiden name was sent to me by a descendant, Robert MacDonald.

In 1920 Floyd & Loretta are living in Detroit, Wayne Co., MI. With them is Emma Passage, mother-in-law.

In 1930 they are still at Detroit. Floyd's wife is Loretta C. I am not sure if this is the same wife as in 1910, because Loretta's age has been inconsistent.

By 1920 he has remarried to Louisa and has three more children. They are living at Hartington, Cedar Co., NE. His daughter Pearl, 14, is also with them.

In 1930 he has a third wife, Nellie, and is living at Precinct 9, Cedar Co., NE. They have seven children in the household: Richard 13, Charles 11, Loretta 10, Clarence 8, Mildred 5, Georgia 4 3/12, & Dorothy 2 4/12. I am not sure if any of these children are Nellie's, although from the census data they alI appear to belong to the previous wife.

In 1930, Fred & Anna are still there, living near their married sons.

In 1920, Frederick & Stella are still at East Providence, and their two children are still with them.

In 1930, Frederick, Stella, & son James F. Hoar, 20, are still living in East Providence, RI. They are right near married daughter Madeline goff and her family.

In the words of Ray Castro, a Bristol resident and fire department buff who researched this for me: Fred "was a member of the Hydrauluon Engine & Hose Co. No.1 which was located at the corner of High and Franklin Street. This exact photo is one of several dozen old photos still proudly displayed in the company meeting room now located on Anawamscutt Drive. This fire company has been serving the community since 1843."

Notes from my dad, Norman Remington: "Fred must have served with the fire department when quite young. Eventually he worked for the street railway until his death sometime in the 1940's. He had enough seniority, I suspect, to choose his routes - which was the Hope Street route."

In the 1920 Federal Census, Gilbert J. Remington is age 52 and a laborer, living in Logan, Mason Co., MI. It says he is married, but he appears to be boarding with a family of another name. His wife Bertha Remington is living with three of their children at Muskegon Precinct 15, Muskegon Co., MI.

In 1930 he is age 63 and living at Lake, Lake Co., MI. It says he is widowed. However, his wife has most likely remarried or otherwise divorced and using her maiden name, as she appears in the census as Bertha Bruder living with son Royal.
