5251 | Katrine's mother died within the year after Katrine was born. Her father remarried in 1892. Trine loved her father very much and he was particularly fond of her, too. At one of his places of employment, she would bring him his lunch. She also loved her step-mother, Kirstine, and cried when she received the news in America that she had died. After Trine's grandmother on her mother's side died, the grandfather married again. He was a very good carpenter -- a builder -- but Trine saw him only occasionally. The step--grandmother lived on Mols, and Trine went there frequently to visit and spend vacation days. | Sorensen, Ann Katrine Bothilde (I00427)

5273 | Lalla West wrote to my grandmother Laura (Chafee) Remington at least twice in 1943, after the death of my uncle Russel Remington in World War II. Lalla, who was living in La Grange, Illinois, had seen his name on the list of the war dead, and wrote to "Family of Russel P. Remington" in East Greenwich, RI. Lalla was very interested in Remington family connections. She said she was proud of the many Remington boys serving our country, and urged my grandmother to get comfort and strength from her Bible. Lalla says "I have long been a D.A.R." From handwritten notes of Virginia Adair: "As a child my grandmother, born in 1874, the daughter of William Aborn Remington, used to visit her widowed grandmother, Sally Anne Arnold Remington, in RI. As she had two Arnold lines back to William Arnold I have lots of Arnold material -- even the old Sion Arnold Bible. I only wish I had questioned her and my mother about the early Remingtons!!"
