The original marriage entry is at the Richmond Town Hall in the "Book of Marriages and Deaths, 1850-1910, p. 14. It says, "In Richmond, Nov. 25th (1866), Charles C. Whitford born in West Greenwich, age 31 -- a farmer, and Hatty P. Johnson born in Coventry, age 17; parents of each: Jeremiah and Sally W. Whitford, Phillip and Tryphena H. Johnson; married by Gilbert Tillinghast, Minister of the Gospel." It was the first marriage for both of them.
Four guys -- back l-r: John Francis Remington, Uncle Charles "Will" Whitford (Angie's bro); front l-r: Uncle Al Hopkins (husband of Olive), Chester Philip Remington, my grandfather.
Uncle Will with granddaughter Carole
Back row l-r: Uncle Will, Uncle Al & Aunt Ollie, Aunt Annie, Great-grandma Angie, Clarence & Margaret; front l-r: Uncle Ben Moone, Carole, Dottie, Lillian & Malcolm; about 1953
Uncle Will and Aunt Annie, my Great-grandma Angie, and Aunt Ollie. I think that's Malcolm sitting on the steps. It was probably a 4th of July family celebration, as they did that every summer.
Four uncles: Ben Moone, Jerry Whitford, Will Whitford, Al Hopkins, 1957
The gravestone for Charles & Annie has been photographed. Several pictures of Charles, Annie, their children and descendants are posted at our web site: [www.thesorensens.net].
I am not sure whether Charles was born in West Greenwich or Coventry.
