New Bedford in the 1800s. It was a busy whaling port.

Whaling was an honorable occupation and very hard work. It also gave many men the opportunity to see the world.

  • Notes
    • John H. took to the sea as did his father, uncles, and some of his cousins. He is recorded as going on a whaling voyage in 1851/52, but I need to check the microfilm to be sure it is he. If so, this may be the voyage on which he died at sea.
