• Notes

  Gardner and Amey are twins. Gardner Hambly is listed as a crew member on the brig "Almy" departing Westport on 10/5/1821: age - 23, height - 5'7", skin color - dark, residence - Tiverton. He may have had an earlier marriage c. 1823 or so, prior to his marriage to Eliza Durfee. His father's will refers to two grandsons, Edwin & Humphry Hambly, but does not say whose sons they are. These two would have been born before 16 January 1827. Gardner and his wife Martha are in the 1850 Federal Census at Tiverton, with two children, John & Susan.
