Notes - Benjamin was one of the oldest nautical commanders in Rhode Island at the time of his death. Ay one time he had been captured on a privateer, and was kept prisoner on the "Old Jersey" for nine months.
His death was due to drowning, off Pawtuxet, in Narragansett Bay.
