Charles J. Battey is my ancestor Maplet's son by her second marriage. This page records his children, the deaths of Maplet and husband James, and two marriage records of my ancestors: Jeremiah and Sally Whitford, and Charles and Harty Whitford.

  • Notes
    • The family Bible has his birthdate as 27 Apr 1827.

I believe that Charles wrote a poem about his nephew on the occasion of the death of Rev. Battey. (See notes for Nicholas Battey b 1836)

His gravestone includes the following inscription: "In my Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2"
