    • In the 1850 Federal Census, Seth is age 43 (?), Mary is 40, and their five children range in age from 19 down to 1. The family is living in Seneca, Ontario Co., NY.

      In the 1860 Federal Census, the family is at Canton, St. Lawrence Co., NY: S. W. Remington 52, Maria P. 48, S. P. 26, Josephine 18, Wm. R. 21; also Ira Martin 11 (probably Lamartine Remington) and Joanna Hayes 18 (domestic).

      In 1870, Seth is 63 and Maria is 60. They are still living in Canton, St. Lawrence Co., NY. Son LaMartin and married daughter Josephine are living with them. Also in the same town are their other two sons, Seth & William, and their families. The census data shows Seth as born in VT.
