    Birth record of children of Joseph and Innocent Remington; these are at Tiverton, and as you can see were all entered at the same time. So, it's likely that at least some of the children were born elsewhere, and other evidence supports that.

Note that the birth date for Joseph Remington is not correct; it is the birth date for a different Joseph Remington who lived and died in Scituate, RI. Our ancestor was born likely on Prudence Island and later settled in Tiverton. The grave for number 17 says "unknown" and I wonder if that belongs to our ancestor Thomas Remington, son of Joseph and Innocent. The location of his grave has not been recorded anywhere that I have found. It makes sense that he would have been buried with family members.


    Stones numbered 14 and 15 are Joseph and Innocent.

  • Notes 
    • In the Remington Family book, Martha A. Benns gives her name as Innocent Taylor. From the records, it appears that this marriage to Benjamin Taylor was a first marriage for our Innocent, and that these are not two different Innocent Taylors. In any case, David Lake named his daughter as Innocent Remington in his will, so that has been documented.

      Her year of birth is given as 1722 on the Brayton plaque at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Tiverton, RI.

      One genealogy has her age at death as 91, which places her birth year at c1718.
