He may have been the Thomas Remington who built the Remington Mill at Rockland Village, Scituate, RI, in 1831. This mill manufactured cotton cloth until the Civil War.
The RI Cemetery Database shows the graves of Thomas, Clarissa, and their son as located in both the Pawtuxet Cemetery in Warwick, and the Pocasset Cemetery in Cranston.
This couple had at least three children who died in infancy: Henry P., b. 1852; and two other babies, one b. 1848 and the other b. 1853.
In the 1860 Federal Census, Thomas P. Remington is age 63, living at Scituate, RI, with Dennis H. Arnold & family. Also in the household are Harriet Remington 13, and Mary Remington 10. I have made an assumption that they are Thomas's daughters.
