BSR says Gershom married Catherine Clemence on 13 Feb 1713, Jamestown (no source noted). However, in some documents she is referred to as Clemence. Jamestown records identify their children as "of Gershom & Clemens" or Clemence. I have made an assumption that she is Clemence Battey, based on their dates of birth and the given names Clemence & Dinah, found in both the Battey and Remington families.
The marriage record at Jamestown identifies the groom as William Battey, Jr., of William & Jean, and the bride as Phebe Remington, of Gershom & Clemence. It adds, "all of Jamestown."
BATTEY William, Jr., of William and Jean, and Phebe Remington, of Gersham and Clemence; m. by Joseph Clarke, Justice, April 3. 1746.
(If you use any portion of these notes, please give credit to me, Lois Sorensen, and to other sources as noted herein.)
Although I have not found a birth record for Phebe, the marriage record at Jamestown identifies the bride as Phebe Remington, of Gershom & Clemence, of Jamestown.
