    • Daniel & Eliza were the first couple to be married in Andover, Allegeny County, NY. The land agent had promised 100 acres of land to the first married couple, so they quickly arranged for a private ceremony so as to married before another couple.

      In the Federal Census of 1850, Daniel S. & Eliza Remington are both aged 48, he born RI and she born MA; living at Andover, Allegany Co., NY. Their children are: Fanny M. 22, Delos 15, and Oscar 11; all three born in NY. They are next to the family of Stephen Potter Jr, who I believe is a descendant of the Stephen Potter family of Hopkinton, RI (see familysearch.org and americanancestors.org vital records of RI).

      In the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Federal Censuses, Daniel & Eliza are still living at Andover, Allegany Co., NY. In 1870 & 1880, they are with their son son Delos and his wife, Philena. In 1880 Daniel & Eliza both are 78 years old.
