Notes from "Remingtons of Utah" by Ward J. Roylance: Because of Tory activities, in Sept 1777 David Remington was arrested, imprisoned, and later and banished from his hometown of Castleton, VT. His property was confiscated for the use of the state. In Oct 1778 he relocated to Cumberland County, now comprising part of eastern Vermont and western New Hampshire.
