• Notes

  In the 1860 Federal Census, S. Remington (Sylvester) is a farmer, age 25, and still living at Oskaloosa, Mahaska Co., Iowa, near his parents and siblings. However, he is now married to "Jeannette" age 27. One genealogy says Sylvester died in Oct 1870, However, I have not been able to find him in the 1870 census. He served in the Civil War, having enlisted 29 March 1864, and mustered out 15 Aug 1865 at Houson, TX. Residence Oskaloosa, IA; nativity Ohio.
