Mary Almy, b. 7 Aug 1689, Tiverton, Newport Co., RI
Marriage
Abt 8 Dec 1739
Warwick, RI
Notes
I have made an assumption that John's second wife, named Mary, was Mary Almy; this assumption is based on the marriage record of John Greene of Warwick and Mary Almy of Newport. This took place in either 1737 or 1739.
I have also made an assumption that she was the daughter of William.
ALMY Mary and John Greene, of Warwick, Dec. 8, 1737.
GREENE John, of Warwick, and Mary Almy, of Newport, Dec. 8, 1737. Marriage Newport

The will of John Greene of West Greenwich was dated 15 Aug 1754, proved 6 Nov 1756 at West Greenwich, RI. John's will mentions his wife, Mary Greene -- "who received household goods which she brought to me when I married her" (clue that she was not his first wife). He mentions 5 sons and 5 daughters, as well as several grandchildren; sons named are Silas dec'd, John, Timothy, Samuel, & Nathan; dtrs named are Enfield Matteson dec'd, Ann Nichols, Mary Johnson, Margaret Matteson, & Hester Weeks (Wickes). (Possibly another dtr. Elizabeth died young.) Grandchildren mentioned: Obediah, und 21, and 3 unnamed dtrs under 18, all of Silas dec'd; Anne Matteson und 18, and Josiah & Silas Matteson, all of Enfield dec'd. He does not mention any grandchildren who are children of his living children.
I have made an assumption that John's second wife was Mary Almy (see marriage notes).
