  • Notes
    • Moses's family Bible was purchased in Savannah, GA, 21 December 1818.

Moses and family resided at Troupville and later moved to Valdosta when that town was started on land near the railroad. At one time he was a business associate of Capt. W. H. Briggs, a son of Dr. Henry Briggs & his wife Catherine (Converse). The Smith & Briggs lots at the Valdosta Cemetery, Sunset Hill, adjoin each other. Capt. Briggs had a son who died in infancy, named Moses, after Moses Smith.
