    • Israel was "of Alabama" when he married Lucy. In the 1850 Federal Census, he is at Gaston, Sumter Co., AL. Apparently his first (or second wife) was born in the South; he later remarried in RI in 1856. In 1850 there are three Sheldon children in the household. Also there is Gideon Westcott, a teenager born in RI.
