    • After Austin's death, Elizabeth remained in Massachusetts, trying to make a living for herself and two young sons. In the fall of 1878 they joined a partly of 40 pioneers and moved to Nebraska, where they built a new homestead and her sons eventually married and raised families.       In the 1880 Federal Census, Elizabeth is a widow age 56, living in Indianola, Red Willow, NE, with her two single sons, George & Henry, who are farmers.

      Elizabeth died in 1907 at the home of her son Henry.
