• Notes

  In the 1860 Federal Census, "P. Remington," age 30, and his wife "Emily," age 23, are living at Chambersburg, Pike Co., IL. They are near her parents, her brother Joel, and his wife Mary and children. Joel & Mary Ham have named a son Orson, and Orson & Eliza have named a son Joel and a daughter Emily. In 1870 "Oscar" & Eliza are still at Chambersburg, IL. They have three children: Emily, Joel, & Angeline. In 1880 Orson S. & "Nancy" are at Perry, Pike Co., IL. They have two children: Charles & Mary. Nancy may be a nickname for Eliza. I am making an assumption she is the same wife because the census has her parents' birthplace as Tennessee; census data shows her mother was born there, although her father was born in SC.
