    • Phebe's age fluctuates greatly in the censuses, from 32 in 1850, to 32 in 1860, and 44 in 1870.

      According to the 1880 census, Phebe's father was born in RI and her mother in VT.

      Her maiden name is sometimes given as Coles, but the gravestone transcription online has it as Cole. The gravestone transcription has her middle initial as J.
