  In the 1870 Federal Census, Walter & Jane are living at Valdosta, Lowndes Co., GA, with their two children Hamilton & Elizabeth. They are near Jane's parents, Hamilton & Jane sharp, and her brother William and his wife, three Remington nephews, and probably other relatives. In 1880 W. L. Joiner & Jane P. Joiner are living at Quitman, Brooks, GA., two doors down from Jane's sister Ellen P. Remington and her sons. One of Ellen's sons is "keeping a hotel."
