  According to the marriage record, Gideon was age 36 when married to Sarah; it was his first marriage; he was born in Little Compton; and his parents are John & Sarah. The 1860 census says he was born in RI. According to the book "The Coggeshalls in America," Gideon was born in 1822. However, his gravestone says 1820. In the 1880 Federal Census, the family is living at New Bedford, except for son Frank, 22, who is living with his maternal grandmother Rosetta Remington and her daughter Rosetta, also in New Bedford.
