    • In the 1813 Rate Book for Mansfield, p. 21, a Joseph Marshall living at Stockwell Gate paid 1/10 - 1/2 (one shilling ten and a half pence). That reference could pertain to this particular Joseph Marshall, our ancestor.

      In the 1841 census, Joseph & Sarah Marshall, their ages given as 60 & 50, are living on Bancroft Lane in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England. In the household are Phoebe 30, Elizabeth 25, James 15, Eliza 15, William 9, & Harriett 4. (In the 1841 census ages above 15 were rounded down to the nearest 5 years.) I have made an assumption that all of the children belong to Joseph & Sarah (needs research to confirm).
