    • In the Federal Census of 1860, the family is at New Haven, CT: Hiram 37, Harriett 34, Geo H. 10, Julia R. 8, Chas D. 3, and Infant (F) 1 mo.

      In the Federal Census of 1870, Hiram, Harriet, and four of their children are living at Meridan, New Haven Co., CT.

      There is a question as to the actual parentage of Hiram, as he was born over three years before the date of his parents' marriage, when Oliver would have been 15 years old. Kay Larsen suggests that Hiram may have been a son of a relative of Vincy's, or possibly an illegitimate child of Vincy, or even of Oliver & Vincy. The town register lists Oliver and Vincy as the parents of Hiram; however, this does not preclude that he may have been adopted.
