      Mary's DAR lineage: her parents, Edwin A. Jones & Cornelia Durand; grandparents, Bennie Jones & Amelia Towner; great-grandparents, Benjamin Jones, Jr. & Molly Stannard; great-great-grandfather, Benjamin Jones.

      Excerpted from her DAR file: Benjamin Jones, Jr., joined Capt. Skinner's Co., Col. Latimer, 25 Aug 1777. He was with the regiment when ordered to reinforce Gen. Gates at Saratoga and took part in the battle 19 Sep 1777, between the regiments commanded by Gen. Gates and Gen. Burgoyne. Entered service on State Man of War Oliver Cromwell, 12 Mar 1778, and participated in the capture of the Admiral Keppel of 18 guns, 13 Apr 1778. In March 1781, he joined Brig. General Waterbury's Battalion which joined Washington while encamped at Phillipsburg in July and was aftrerwards under Heath's orders on the Westchester line. Was a pensioner under Act of Congress approved 7 June 1832.

      Mary is also the great-granddaughter of Samuel Durand of Cheshire, CT, who enlisted when but 16 years of age and is said to have been the youngest soldier from the State of Connecticut. Was a pensioner under Act of Congress approved 1840.

      In the 1930 Federal Census, she may be the Mary Remington, age 74, living at the Old People's Home on Jefferson St. in Hartford, CT.
