    • "She was married first to Erastus Haines and had a son Eugene Francis Haines. While serving in the Civil War, Erastus was erroneously listed as killed in action in 1862. After he was paroled as a POW, he resumed service then returned to Cattaraugus Co. in 1865. In the meanwhile believing Erastus to be dead, Emery married David Comstock."
