- Rev. Ray Potter was a Baptist minister in Pawtucket, RI. He also was an ardent abolitionist.
He wrote his memoirs of his spiritual journey, available at Google Books. (Memoirs of the life and religious experience of Ray Potter: minister of the Gospel, Pawtucket, pub 1829.)
At one point in his life he "fell into the sin of adultery" with a young woman, made a public confession, and spent some time in prison.
