    • According to his obituary, Mr. Slocum was a prominent citizen and businessman of Pawtucket for many years. Born in Providence in 1924, as a young man he moved to Pawtucket and opened the first bootmaking business in the state. He later was in the cigar business and also manufactured carpets. In subsequent years he moved to Attleboro.
