      There is quite an age difference between Oliver and his wife Jane; I wonder if it was a second marriage? I have made an assumption that the marriage of Oliver Hopkins of Jamestown to Mary Brown is a first marriage for this Oliver who married Jane Battey.

      The will of Oliver Hopkins, "yeoman of Jamestown, advanced in age" is dated 23 Feb 1836, proved 20 Mar 1851. It mentions wife Jane; sons George L. of Oteger, NY; William H.; and Oliver W. under 21; dtrs Ruth Watson of Louiano, NY; and Susan.
