• Notes

  In the Federal Census of 1850, the family is living in Providence, RI: Thomas 42 Eng, Rebecca 33 PEI, Ann 15, Thomas 13, Edwin 10, Isaac 10, John 8, and Rachel 7 (all children b PEI). Thomas is a blacksmith. In the Federal Census of 1870, the family is living in North Providence, RI. Thomas is still a blacksmith. It appears that Rebecca and all the children were born in PEI except Sarah whose birthplace is given as Rhode Island. I do not find them in 1860 so perhaps they returned to PEI and then later came back to RI. He is probably the Thomas Giddings age 72 who died in Providence 3 July 1879; parents identified as Joseph and Sarah Giddings.
