- Capt. Audley Clarke, son of Capt. Audley Clarke, was born c1739 and died 1 Jan 1771 (gravestone in Newport Common Burying Ground).
He may be the Audley Clarke of Newport, mariner, whose will was dated June 1771 (maybe was really Jan but misread?); it mentions a wife (unnamed) but no children.
Was this his wife: Margaret Clarke wife of Audley was born c1732 and died 1 Nov 1784, buried Newport, no husband's stone there? Maybe there are probate records in Newport that would clarify this.
Note that I am not sure this marriage to Margaret Howland belongs to this particular Audley.
