Warwick Castle, home of several generations of our ancestors. This family line comes down to Jeremy Clarke, who came to America in 1639 and settled in Newport, RI, as one of the original settlers. He signed the Portsmouth Compact in 1639, along with several of our other ancestors. Jeremy is a direct descendant of King Edward I of England and his wife Eleanor of Castile, through their daughter Joan Plantagenet, who died in 1307.

    • From the website of Warwick Castle:
"It was with William that a dynasty lasting 181 years and bringing Warwick Castle to the height of its fortunes would begin. William de Beauchamp served as a military commander under King Edward I, and the influence of the Beauchamp family grew."
