Notes:
On 13 April 1747 Samuel sold the ferry pier and adjoining land on Warwick Neck to Joseph Nichols of Middletown. The "Warwick Ferry" operated up until the Revolutionary War. The land and pier were later owned by Benjamin Greene of East Greenwich, and then by his son William, who owned much of Warwick Neck.

Notes:
Hezekiah was a son of Samuel Gorton, Jr., the eldest son of the original Samuell Gorton who is our ancestor and the founder of Warwick. Hezekiah's father and our ancestor Benjamin were brothers. In 1724 the RI General Assembly granted Hezekiah permission to run a ferry from Warwick Neck to Prudence Island, en route to Newport. He lost this privilege in 1746.
Hezekiah married Avis Carr 20 Aug 1719, Warwick, RI. Avis (daughter of Edward Carr and Hannah Stanton) was born 29 May 1698; died 17 Feb 1732/33. [Group Sheet]
