  1. 1.  Henry Y. Dedrick was born 1799, RI; died 4 Dec 1884, MA.

    Notes:

    In the 1850 Federal Census at New Bedford, MA (p. 234), Henry & Sarah Dedrick are 50 and 46. This age does not seem right for Sarah, as she should be about 50 also. Perhaps she took a few years off when giving her age, or else someone else in the household was estimating it.

    Living with them and their two sons is Lydia A. Remington, who appears to be Sarah's niece, daughter of John. However, Lydia A., daughter of John, is listed with her own family at Tiverton in 1850. There may be two Lydias born the same year, and if so, who is this one? Alternatively, she may have been staying with her aunt and uncle when the census was taken, and the informant included her.

    In the 1855 MA state census, Henry and Sally are in New Bedford with Charles and Elizabeth. Is Elizabeth a daughter? Yes, her death record identifies her parents as Henry and Sally.

    In the 1860 Federal Census, Henry is age 60, apparently widowed, living at New Bedford with Joseph & Alice Wade. His son William D. Dedrick, 21, a seamann, is also there.

    In 1870 Henry is age 69, still living at New Bedford, and apparently has remarried (?) to Alice, age 75.

    In 1880 he is still at New Bedford, age 80, boarding with the family of Patrick Kirwin.

    Henry married Sarah "Sallie" Remington 14 Apr 1824, New Bedford, MA. Sarah (daughter of Thomas REMINGTON and Alice "Elce" GRINNELL) was born 3 Jun 1800, Tiverton, Newport Co., RI; died 9 Dec 1858, MA. [Group Sheet]
