    Notes:

    His name has been given as Joshua in some genealogies. His name as written as Josiah in the 1880 & 1900 censuses.

    At least four of the children in this family died very young or fairly young. What sorrow these parents had to endure.

    In the 1880 Federal Census, Josiah & Levina C. Remington, ages 45 & 44, are living on Fort Hill Street in Hingham, Plymouth Co., MA. They have five children in the household: Frank L. 16, Emma 14, Wm Robert 10, George S. 7, & Martha M. 4. Henry & Sophronia Harves are boarding with them.

    In the 1900 Federal Census, Josiah & Lavinia C. Remington, ages 66 & 59, are still living at Hingham. With them is married daughter Martha Danforth and her husband and three children.

    Josiah married Lavina C. Smith 15 Dec 1859. Lavina was born 27 Jun 1840, Cape Canso, Nova Scotia, Canada; died 1902; was buried , Fort Hill Cemetery, Hingham, Plymouth Co., MA. [Group Sheet]

    In 1920 the family is still in Hingham, on New Bridge St.
