    In the Federal Census of 1860, the family is at Warwick, RI. Joseph & Ann now have four children.

    In the Federal Census of 1870, the family is at Taunton, MA: Joseph 52, Anna 50, Sarah 18, Anna 12, & Henriette 9.

    In 1880 they are still at Taunton: Joseph H. 58, Ann 60, Sarah E. 26, Annie B. 20, & Etta J. 18.

    Joseph died of consumption at the age of 64 y 1 m 3 d.

    In the 1870 Federal Census, James M. & Elizabeth Remington, ages 46 CT & 42 MA, are living at Taunton, MA. They have a daughter Cora E., age 7 RI. James is a Gas fitter.

    In the 1880 Federal Census, James and family are living on Summer St. in Taunton, Bristol County, MA: Jas. M. is 56, Maria E. is 52, and Cora E. is 16. His widowed mother Sarah, 80, is also with them.

    James married Maria Elizabeth Steere Between Jun 1850 and 1863. Maria (daughter of Hosea Steere and Hannah Tinkham) was born 28 Sep 1826, CT; died 11 Jul 1916; was buried , Historical Cemetery 35, Glocester, RI. [Group Sheet]

    He may be the Orville M. Remington who died 3 Mar 1894 at age 56. I am using this date of death for him as I have not found any other Orville Remington. (needs more research to confirm)

    "In 1874 James E. Hanrahan began the publication of the Providence Evening Chronicle, but it survived only a short time. In the same year the Sunday Dispatch was started by P. D. & E. Jones; they were succeeded by P. D. Jones alone, and he by W. B. W. Hallett. Soon afterwards C. C. Corbett and Orville Remington became the owners, and the Dispatch Publishing Company was formed.
