    I have made an assumption that Enoch & Catheen died before the 1850 census, because I have not been able to locate them in the census index.

    In 1830 there is an Enock Remington in Vermilion, IL. That may be this Enoch.

    Enock married Catheen Powers 1812. Catheen was born 11 Jul 1794; died Bef 1 Jun 1850. [Group Sheet]

    In the 1850 Federal Census, Enoch, Jane, Mary, & Maria Remington are living at Memphis Ward 5, Shelby Co., TN. Also living with them is Cameron Ewen, 22 AL.

    Note from William D. Adkins (in Special Collections at HISGEN): "The death of ECR at Fort Smith, although told by Grandmother Mary Catheen Remington and recorded in Paxton's Annals, I still have not been able to verify."

    In the 1860 Federal Census, W. C. Remington is age 41 CT; his (second) wife Amanda M. is 22 MO. In the household are : Jas W. 11, Sarah J. 7, Arthur C. 5, Charles M. 2 (all MO); E. Adkins 55 KY; Mary C. Remington 19 MO (probably niece); and Henry Darnell 50 KY, a servant. They are at Lee, Platte Co., MO.

    William married Sarah J. Unknown Abt 1848. Sarah was born Abt 1828, KY; died Abt 1853, MO. [Group Sheet]

    In the 1850 Federal Census, Mary is living in Memphis, TN, with her parents and sister.

    In the 1860 Federal Census, Mary C. Remington, age 19 MO, is living with her uncle W. C. Remington and family at Lee, Platte Co., MO.

    In the 1870 Federal Census, James W. Remington age 21 MO is living at Moundsville, Marshall Co., WV. He is a painter boarding at the hotel of Wm H. Johnson.

    In 1880 he is married to Laura and living at Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., KS. I am assuming their four children all belong to him (needs research to confirm).
