    Notes:

    In the 1850 Federal Census, William & Almy are both age 46, living in Ward 6 of Providence, RI. William is a butcher. In the household are their 8 children: Charles J. 22, Albert C. 20, Justice S. 18 (Augustus), Mary E. 15, David 12 (Daniel), Esther 8, Alvin 6, & Henry Clay 2.

    By 1860 the family has moved to Johnston, RI: William & Almy are both 55, and William is still a butcher. Also in the household are son Augustus and his wife Mary B., both age 28; as well as children Mary E. 25, Daniel 21, Esther 19, Alvin I. 15, Robert B. 12, and Pardon L. 4. They are living next door to Charles (81) & Lydia (77) Randall, who in turn are next to Charles & Lydia Randall and their three children. In 1860, Robert seems to be born the same year as Henry in the previous census. Also, is Pardon the son of William or the son of Augustus?

    In the 1870 Federal Census, William & "Almira" are age 66 and still in Johnston. William is a meat peddlar. Son Albert, age 40, is living with them as well as 6 children of the King family.

    In the 1860 Federal Census, Charles & Lydia are living in Johnston with their three oldest children, Almy D. 8, William S. 5, & Charles H. 3. They are next door to Charles's grandparents, Charles & Lydia, and right near his parents and siblings.

    In the 1870 Federal Census, the family is living in Johnston, RI. Charles and the two oldest children are working in a cotton mill. In 1880 the family is living in Pawtucket, RI.

    Charles married Lydia Ann Northup Abt 11 Apr 1852, North Providence, RI. Lydia (daughter of Sylvester Northup, III and Ruth Ann Card) was born 4 Mar 1830, Warwick, RI; died 31 Dec 1915. [Group Sheet]
