  1. 1.  Joel Remington was born 8 Jun 1818, Huntington, Chittenden Co., VT; died 25 Nov 1891, Waterbury, Washington Co., VT.

    Notes:

    I have placed Joel in this family group based on a Remington genealgoy report from Pat Boyden.

    Joel and his family are living at Waterbury, Washington Co., VT., in the 1850, 1860, 1870, & 1880 Federal Censuses.

    In 1850 Joel & "Almira" are ages 31 & 32, and have a daughter Elvira, age 11. Also in the household are (presumed) in-laws Lyman & Sarah Hall, ages 67 & 65.

    In 1860 Joel & Armina are 42 & 43, and have a son Homer E., age 7.

    In 1870 Joel & Armina M. are 52 & 53, and it is noted that Armina is an invalid. Also in the household are Lyman & Sarah Hall, ages 86 & 82.

    In 1880 Joel has remarried and has a wife named Rhoda. A stepdaughter, Minnie Rand, age 15, is with them.

    One genealogy says he died 25 March 1891 at age 73.

    Joel married Rhoda Wilson Stowell 11 Dec 1872, Waterbury, Washington Co., VT. Rhoda (daughter of Duren Stowell and Asenath Baxter) was born 16 Dec 1829, VT; died 9 Jan 1903, Burlington, Rutland Co., VT. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    I have made an assumption that Azariah is the son of Joel & Armina, because he has a son named Joel, and also because he is living in the same town as Joel in 1870 & 1880. Also, in 1870, Homer E. Remington, age 18, is living with Azariah and family; and in 1860 Homer is with Joel & Armina. Therefore, it is a reasonable assumption (needs research to confirm).

    In 1860, A. B. Remington is age 24, a clerk, living with the family of Ira Sayles at Richmond, Chittenden Co., VT.

    In 1870, A. B. Remington is age 34, married to Martha M., age 27, and living at Waterbury, Washington Co., VT. They have a son Joel D., 11 months. Also in the household is Homer E. Remington, age 18, probably brother of Azariah.

    In 1880 Azariah B. Remington is 44 and his wife Martha M. Remington is 38; their son Joel D. Remington is 11. They are still at Waterbury.

    Azariah's (assumed) father Joel and family are living at Waterbury in 1850, 1860, 1870, & 1880.

    Children:

    Notes:

    Since there is a considerable space between the children in this family, I suppose there is a possibility that Homer is a son of Joel & Armina's daughter Elvira.
