    Notes:

    In the Federal Census of 1860, the family is at New Haven, CT: Hiram 37, Harriett 34, Geo H. 10, Julia R. 8, Chas D. 3, and Infant (F) 1 mo.

    In the Federal Census of 1870, Hiram, Harriet, and four of their children are living at Meridan, New Haven Co., CT.

    There is a question as to the actual parentage of Hiram, as he was born over three years before the date of his parents' marriage, when Oliver would have been 15 years old. Kay Larsen suggests that Hiram may have been a son of a relative of Vincy's, or possibly an illegitimate child of Vincy, or even of Oliver & Vincy. The town register lists Oliver and Vincy as the parents of Hiram; however, this does not preclude that he may have been adopted.

    Hiram married Harriet Roberts 2 Aug 1847, Meriden, New Haven Co., CT. Harriet (daughter of Asa Roberts and Patience Penfield) was born Abt Aug 1826, Middletown, Middlesex Co., CT; died 29 Sep 1891, Meriden, New Haven Co., CT; was buried , New Highland Cemetery, Middletown, CT. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    In the 1860 Federal Census, George is age 10 and living with his grandparents in Meriden, New Haven Co., CT. In 1880 he appears to be the George Remington living in Meriden next to Henry E. Remington, most likely his uncle. The census data says his father was born in RI and his mother in CT.

    The 1860 Federal Census shows George living with both Hiram Remington and Oliver & Vincy. So, either there are two Georges about the same age, or -- the same George was counted twice in the census.

    George married Marietta "Etta" Hall 15 Aug 1872, Wallingford, New Haven Co., CT. Marietta was born Abt 1848, CT; died Aft 1 Jun 1900. [Group Sheet]
