    This is likely the family group in the 1850 Federal Census at Barton, Orleans Co., VT: David Knapp 38 VT, Claude 62 RI, Mary 35 VT, Nancy 40 VT, and Abigail 32 VT. "Claude" is probably Clarissa.

    Clarissa married Remington Knapp Abt 1810. Remington (son of David Knapp, Jr. and Mariam Remington) was born Abt 1785, RI; died Abt 1827, Barton, Orleans Co., VT. [Group Sheet]

    In the Federal Census of 1880, David Knapp is age 65, boarding at Morgan, Orleans Co., VT, with his widowed sister Mary Pratt and her son William.

    Notes:

    On the Federal Census of 1880, Mary Pratt is age 60, living at Morgan, Orleans Co., VT. With her is son William 32, and brother David Knapp 65.

    In the Federal Census of 1850, Mary appears to be single, as Mary Knapp 35 VT, living with her siblings and their mother (probably). However, in 1880 she is Mary Pratt and has a son William born c 1848. Either she was already widowed/divorced by 1850, or else she was married after 1850 and adopted an older child.
