I am making an assumption that this is a brother to William, because their families are living next door to each other in the 1850 Federal Census at Mundy, Genesee Co., MI. According to the census data, William & Jacob were both born in NY, two years apart. Alternatively, they could be cousins. However, others of this Allen family are in the area.
