    • In the Federal Census of 1860, her name is listed as Amelia.

      In the 1880 Federal Census, "Alinear" or "Almear" Remington is age 50 and living in Richland, Holmes Co., OH. In the household are: Winfield 26 (sch teacher), Marqis W. 24, Caral 22 (? d-in-law), Hannah R. 21, Sarah M. 19, John W. 9, & Lilia A. 2. All are born in New York except the mother, Almera. However, it is puzzling that the census data says that the father of both Marqis & Lilia was born in Rhode Island. Is that an error? It must be, because Lillie is a daughter of Marcus & Sarah.

      She was probably the daughter of Hiram and Hannah Sayles, with whom she is living in the 1850 census at Knox, OH.
