    • In the 1850 Federal Census, Copeland & Sarah Remington are ages 25 & 26, living at Ashford, Cattaraugus Co., NY. They have three children. Near them are parents Joseph & Amanda Remington and family, including Samuel Canfield, 22.

      In 1860 they are still at Ashford: Copeland 35, Sally 35, Martha A. 13, James S. 12, Mercy M. 10, Enos S. 8, Joseph A. 6, Charles C. 6 months; and William Black 34 VA, farmer laborer.
