Notes
It is possible that Jonathan & Phebe were married in RI, or in Cheshire or Adams, MA. The vital records of Cheshire were destroyed in a fire, and there are no early records of Adams, except the Cooke Collection at the Pittsfield Athenaeum.
Birth record of my ancestor Maplet Remington and her sisters, with their parents' names, Jonathan and Phebe. Edward S. R. Remington was their half-brother, born to Jonathan and Sarah. Julia and Sally are Maplet's two daughters by her first husband. The writing at the top of the page identifies the original owner of this Bible as Samuel Bowering, Sergeant of Marinus Romulus. He came on this ship during the Revolutionary War. Somehow the Bible was acquired by Samuel Comstock and was passed down I suppose through his daughter-in-law Mercy (Angell) (Comstock) Remington to my relatives in Coventry, who eventually gave it to me.
