601 According to the cemetery records, Mary S. Remington died at age 54y, 7m, 6d.

In 1850 she is age 49, living with Benjamin & Elizabeth. Ben is likely her brother.

604 According to the church record, Gilbert was born on Tuesday, 8th Apr 1777, and baptized on aThursday, 11th July 1777.

(Note from Alan Battams: For all their children christened up to 1817, father Gilbert was a stockinger, mother Elizabeth, of Stockwell Gate. For children after 1817, father Gilbert was a stockinger, mother Elizabeth, of Bancroft Lane.)

In the 1841 census, Gilbert & Elizabeth are living at 10 Bancroft Lane. Also in the household are sons Robert & Samuel, as well as Robert's wife Ann and their five children: George, Robert, Harriet, Edward, & Charles. Nearby, at 11 & 12 Bancroft, are living two other sons, John & Gilbert, and their families.

In 1851, Gilbert is not there but Elizabeth Slack is age 73, still on Bancroft Lane, a pauper/winder.

In the 1813 Rate Book for Mansfield, p. 62, a Gilbert Slack living in Ratcliffe Gate paid 1/10 - 1/2 pence (one shilling ten and a half pence). The reference could refer to this particular Gilbert, our ancestor.

Her great-great-grandson Charles provided information that her funeral was in Manville, and her obit gave her age as 51 y 5 m 14 d. I used that age to compute her birth date.

613 According to the death record of John J. Cornell at Savannah, he died at age 65. It identifies his birthplace as Rhode Island.

He was probably named after John Jay -- American patriot, statesman, one of the Founding Fathers, President of the Continental Congress 1778-1779, signer of the Treaty of Paris, and First Chief Justice of the United States from 1789-1795; he also was Governor of the State of New York.

In the Federal Census of 1910, Henry & Josephine, ages 29 & 22, are living at Chassell Twp, Houghton Co., MI. They have two young children, Irene & Earl.

In the 1920 census, Henry is a widower, again living at Chassell, Houghton Co., MI. He has five children in the household; the youngest, Celia, was born in Florida.

In the 1920 census he also appears to be the Francis Remington, age 38 MI widower, living at Bergland, Ontonagon, MI, working for a the Worcester Logging Company, along with his brother Arthur. A William Remington is also there, but he may or may not be their brother, William.

In 1930, Henry is with his second wife Anna, and they are living at Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., WI. Earl and Lenora are with them.

639 According to the marriage record at Coventry Town Hall, Hyacinthe & Alfonsine were married in Warwick. At that time, Hyacinthe's residence was Warwick, and Alfonsine was a resident of Coventry. He was 20, she was 18; both were born in Canada. It was the first marriage for both.

They were married by Rev. Henry F. Contrary of St. John's Church.
