From Barbara Chase, a Remington descendant: "Cranston Dd Bk 2; p. 129 - 3 Nov 1769 - Lippitt Remington of Cranston 'in consideration of my mother Margaret' a tract of land belonging to father Joseph Remington deceased; lease to her during her lifetime; with house thereon . . . Cranston Dd Bk 2; p. 129 - 3 Nov 1769 - Robert Knight Jr. of Cranston assigns forever privileges of a 'Burying place' on land purchased of Lippitt Remington 'whereon his father Joseph was buried' . . . 'sd Burying place for ever to Bury their dead.' "
