| I am not sure if this date of death belongs to Susannah. Findagrave.com has a date of death as 1778 for S. Tripp. If Susannah died before 1760, Pedigreene may have married Martha Boss in 1760 which case the youngest son would be hers. | Sherman, Susannah (I27321)
| I am not sure if this date of death pertains to this particular Benjamin -- needs more research to confirm. | Remington, Benjamin (I03477)
| I am not sure if this is Cecil or Cecile. BSR's chart has Cecil, marrying Edward in 1875, but that is at age 10! Perhaps he made a mistake -- skipped a name here. | Remington, Cecile H. (I09667)
| I am not sure if this is the correct Captain John Sprague who was the husband of Lydia and the father of Cynthia. There is not another one in the cemetery database. Records show that Cynthia was born between 1819 and 1821 (to Capt. John & Lydia A. Sprague), but supposedly this Capt. John Sprague d.1817. Perhaps there was a misread of his gravestone, as it is in a very old cemetery. | Sprague, Captain John Jr. (I10854)
| I am not sure if this is the corrrect wife for this particular John Remington. Data in the DAR Patriot Index may not be accurate. | Greene, Mary (I07721)
| I am not sure if this pertains to this Eva: Eva Chafee Last Residence: 92126 San Diego, San Diego, California, United States of America Born: 20 Mar 1882 Died: Sep 1975 State (Year) SSN issued: Rhode Island (Before 1951 ) | Dow, Eva A. (I00159)
| I am not sure if Wait was a daughter of Joseph's first wife or second. However, from her date of marriage, I am guessing she was a daughter of Amey. | Fenner, Wait (I13614)
| I am not sure of these dates for Mary. She appears to be the daughter named Louise in the 1850 census, at age 4 months. (This needs more research.) | Lippitt, Mary Louise (I15945)
| I am not sure Stephen belongs in this family, but Boyd Scott Remington has him here. Stephen Remington was born 4 July 1772 to Joshua Remington & Ruth Clay. A Stephen Remington married Thankful Hill; it is not known for sure to which family he belongs. On this tree I have tentatively placed Thankful as the wife of Stephen born to Joshua & Ruth (Clay) Remington. | Remington, Stephen (I07892)
| I am not sure that Clark belongs in this family, but I am placing him here based on census data for Samuel's family, as well as similarity of family names and general proximity of residence in the censuses. However, this needs more research to confirm. In the 1850 Federal Census, Clark & Elizabeth are living at Otego, Otsego Co., NY; this is right next to Delaware County. Clark & Elizabeth have two children: Martin 3 & Mahitable 1. In the 1860, 1870, & 1880 censuses, the family is living at Sidney, Delaware Co., NY. Several other Remingtons are also living in Delaware County, so this is one reason that I have placed Clark in the family with these Remingtons, who are all related. Also, from the census data for Samuel Remington, it seems that Samuel and his wife had a son during the time period of Clark's birth, so I have assumed that Clark is that son, most likely the oldest of the siblings. This needs more research to confirm. (see notes for Samuel) | Remington, Clark (I20186)
| I am not sure that Daniel belongs in this family. In 1850 a Daniel Remington 18, is living as a laborer at Royalton, Cuyahoga. OH. He may be one of Charles's sons. Ezekiel's father was named Daniel. In 1860, this Daniel b c1832 appears to be living in Wheatland, Bad Ax Co., WI, working as a sawyer. I can't find him in later years. I have placed him in this family group tentatively, based on his age, name, and location (needs further research to confirm). | Remington, Daniel (I23699)
| I am not sure that Elizabeth is a daughter of Ann, but since she has a son named George, I have placed her in the time frame of Ann's children (Ann was a daughter of George Tibbitts). Elizabeth Gardner is mentioned as a daughter in Immanuel's will, and three Gardner grandchildren are also mentioned: George, Wanton, & Sarah. | Northup, Elizabeth (I13943)
| I am not sure that Hiram is a son of Ransom, but since he is living next to Silas in the censuses, and gives parents' birthplace as VT, I am guessing he may belong here. (This needs more research to confirm.) In the 1850 Federal Census, Hiram & Alzada Remington, ages 28 & 25, are living at Dayton, Cattaraugus Co., NY. They have a son, Lewis, 1 month old. They are living next to the family of Silas Remington. In the Federal Census of 1870, Hiram & Alzada are ages 45 & 44, still at Dayton. With them are: Maty 19, Edgar 16, Alvira 14, Adaline 12, Herman 10, "Alverson" 8, Eva 6, and Glen 3. Nearby son Lewis N. is age 20 and married to Alice A., 19. They are near Orange Remington and family, and also near Garret and Wallace and their households. In the Federal Census of 1880, Hiram & Alzada are both aged 54, still living at Dayton. In the household are: Alvira 24, Herman 21, Almeron 19, Eva 17, Harriet 15, & Glen 12 (all b NY). They are next to son Lewis and family. | Remington, Hiram (I22733)
| I am not sure that James was a son of Henry & Judith. This came from a family tree at Rootsweb and must be researched. | Matteson, James (I09318)
| I am not sure that John Remington is Allen's father, but since they are living near each other in the 1850 census, it is a reasonable assumption. It is also unclear whether Julia is his mother, stepmother, or another relative. In the 1850 Federal Census Allen is age 18, living at Perkins, Erie Co., OH, with Aaron Whipple 33 NY and his (probable) mother Lydia Whipple 60 NY and Eliza Whipple 24 NY. A later census notes that Allen is Aaron's nephew. They are next to John B. & Rhoda Hunter and their six children, including a son named Remington. Are they related to Allen? Next to the Hunters is John Remington 50 NH and his household -- possible wife Julia Remington 38 NY, and Albert & Charles Nichols, ages 6 & 3. In the 1860 Federal Census Allen is age 28 OH, still living with Aaron (40) & Lydia (60) Whipple, at Perkins, Erie Co., OH. Julia Remington age 50 NY is living in the same town, but John is not listed anywhere that I can see. With her are Jacob Nichols 38 PA, as well as Albert & Charles Nichols, 16 & 13 OH. In 1870 Allen is married and still living at Perkins, OH. He is age 37 OH; his wife Quintrilla is 24 OH. They have a son, Edward 1 OH. Aaron Whipple 50 NY is the head of the household. Next to or near them is Jacob Nichols 48, along with Catherine (wife?) 36, Charles 24, and Marshall 5; they are next to Remington & Maria Hunter and their 4 children (Remington is s/o John B & Rhoda Hunter). In 1880 Allen & Quintrilla, ages 61 & 47, are still living with Aaron Whipple 61 NY. The census notes that Aaron is their uncle. There are four Remington children in the household: Edward 12, Allen 9, Cora 6, and Susan 3, all b OH. They are still next to the family of Jacob Nickols. In the Federal Census of 1900, Allen & Quintrilla are still at Perkins, OH. With them is married daughter Cora B. Anthony and her two children, Ralph & Esther. Also there are two other daughters, Susie & Ellen Ann (?). | Remington, Allen (I20697)
| I am not sure that Josiah belongs in this family -- needs further research! | Remington, Josiah (I06369)
| I am not sure that Lydia belongs with this particular Samuel, but I am placing this marriage here pending further research. See notes for Samuel. | Holmes, Lydia (I24437)
| I am not sure that Nancy is a daughter of David. She may be the daughter of Remington Knapp who moved to VT. | Knapp, Nancy (I23686)
| I am not sure that Olive belongs in this family. However, Dexter's family was living at East Greenwich in the 1840 census, so I am placing Olive here pending further research. The death record says she died at age 10 months. | Remington, Olive Ballou (I22317)
| I am not sure that Patience belongs in this family group. However, she is a daughter of Peleg Remington and was born in Pawtuxet, so this is one of two families she could belong in. I have placed her here because Peleg C. Remington and family were living in Scituate in the 1830 census, and Patience's husband Albert was born in Scituate. Read about her and her family in "Portrait and Biographical Record of Winnebago and Boone Counties, Illinois" p 441 (Google Books). In the 1850 Federal Census at Brooklyn, CT, she is named as Ann E. | Remington, Patience Ann (I26778)
| I am not sure that Ruth belongs in this family. However, her death record is at East Greenwich, and the only Remington families there listed in the 1840 census are Dexter and his father. His brother Warren is most likely living with his father, but there are no children listed in their household. Dexter's household has a female under age 5, who may have been Ruth. | Remington, Ruth Dexter (I22316)
| I am not sure that Samuel is a son of Samuel, but I am including him here because of his date of birth, and because he has a son named Caleb. (needs more research to confirm) | Carr, Samuel (I02214)
| I am not sure that these are the correct dates for this particular Phebe Smith, but they are from the RI Cemetery Database (needs more research). | Unknown, Phebe (I14641)
| I am not sure that these dates in the cemetery database belong to the husband of Sarah Remington. However, their graves are both in the same cemetery. Possibly his birth year was misread, and it should be 1757. | Harris, Andrew (I08817)
| I am not sure that this Allen is the son of this Edward, but he is in the correct time frame. The marriage record is from Arnold's Vital Record of RI, Elder Wright's Marriages; it says the groom is the son of Edward & Phebe. I don't have a marriage record for this Edward with a Phebe, only with Melinda at a later date, which may be a second marriage. There is also an entry in Beaman's RI Genealogical Register, showing in the 1850 Census an Allen Usher, a farmer age 50, and his wife Abby, in Smithfield Boro, Bradford County, PA. I am assuming this is the same couple. | Usher, Allen (I02695)
| I am not sure that this marriage belongs in this family group, but based on the following marriage record, I am entering this information for this particular Samuel: ROGERS Samuel, of John, and Lydia Holmes, of Capt. Jonathan; m. by Gov. Samuel Cranston, Jan. 31, 1705-6. | Rogers, Samuel (I24420)
| I am not sure when or where Diadamia actually died. Although she and Allen are listed on the membership roll of First General Baptist Church of Richmond, RI, in 1810, supposedly Allen married a second wife in 1809. It may be that the church leaders in southern RI had not heard that Diadama had died, until after the membership rolls were updated. | Unknown, Diadama (I09212)
| I am not sure whether Abigail was a daughter of Freelove, or of a previous wife. I am making an assumption that she was a daughter of Freelove, and have estimated her year of birth. | Northup, Abigail (I13956)
| I am not sure whether Charles was born in West Greenwich or Coventry. We knew him as "Uncle Jerry." The gravestone of J. Nelson & Velna E. Whitford at Maple Root Cemetery has been photographed. It includes an "infant," Jan 8, 1924. | Whitford, Jeremiah "Jerry" Nelson (I00142)
| I am not sure whether Deborah is a daughter or a daughter-in-law of Isaac & Alice. Her gravestone is in the same plot as theirs. | Manchester, Deborah C. (I19116)
| I am not sure whether or not this Jonathan belongs in this family, or whether this marriage to Mary Thurston belongs to him. A marriage in a newspaper said that Jonathan was s/o Jonathan & Susannah of East Greenwich. It could have meant Jonathan & Lorana (Susana); or it could have meant John & Susannah, with the son himself being of East Greenwich. I have placed Jonathan and this marriage here, pending further research. | Remington, Jonathan (I09204)
| I am not sure whether Peleg actually belongs here, because his birth is not in the Tiverton vital records along with the other children in this family group (needs more research). | Manchester, Peleg (I00785)
| I am not sure whether Phebe is a daughter or a daughter-in-law of Isaac & Alice. Her gravestone is in the same plot as theirs. | Manchester, Phebe C. (I19115)
| I am not sure whether this cemetery data is for the husband of Josephine. | Sherman, Elisha (I17774)
| I am not sure whether this individual is male or female. | Stanton, Content (I03525)
| I am not sure whether Thomas was a son of Feelove, or of a previous wife. I have estimated his year of birth. | Northup, Thomas (I13954)
| I am not sure which Anna Remington married Zeno Kent. | Remington, Anna (I11215)
| I am not sure which Anna Remington married Zeno Kent -- this one, or the Anna born 1768 to Benjamin & Mary. | Remington, Anna (I08116)
| I am not sure which is his first name. In the 1860 census he is Rufus, but in the 1870 census he is Edmund. It appears to be the same family group in every other way. In 1880 he is Rufus E. Remington, and his wife is Ruth C (?). They have three children and are living with Rufus's parents, Allen & Susan Remington, At Ellisburgh, Jefferson Co., NY. In the Federal Census of 1 June 1900, Rufus E. & Ruth are at Sandy Creek, Oswego Co., NY. They have two daughters, Dora 20 & Kate 7. In the Federal Census of 1 Jan 1920, Rufus & Ruth Remington are living on North Ridge Road in Sandy Creek, Oswego Co., NY. Their widowed daughter-in-law Leona and family are also in Sandy Creek. In 1920 he is still at Sandy Creek, a widower age 79, listed as father-in-law living with Ward E. & Kate R. Crandall and their two sons. | Remington, Rufus Edmund (I11625)
| I am not sure which John Briggs, Jr., was Sarah's husband. | Briggs, Sarah (I06225)
| I am placing Alice in this family because her name is here on a family chart which was partially filled out by my mom in the 1970s. I found a birth record for an Alice Allsop in Mansfield, England, in 1911. I don't know if it is for this Alice, but I have used this as her birth year. According to a notation on the back of her picture, she is "Alice the youngest." This agrees with the 1911 census, in which Alice in the youngest child in this family group. | Allsop, Alice (I14928)
| I am taking the liberty of assuming that this marriage in the Jamestown vital records belongs to these two individuals. The time frame and the locale fit them both. The marriage record at Jamestown reads: "John Carr & Abigail Remington both of this town" were married "ye 15 of 12th month 1704/05 by John Weeden, Warden." (At this time the 12th month was February and the 1st month was March. Dates from January through March used a split year.) | Family F01963
| I am using both James N., Arnold's "Vital Record of Rhode Island" and Craig Rice's online data to match this marriage entry in Arnold's "Vital Record of RI" with this particular Nicholas. They were married by Sylvester Sweet, Justice. | Family F00711
| I am wondering if her name was actually Parma Eliza, a shortened form or variation of her mother's name, Parmelia. | Gilbert, Parna Eliza (I11602)
| I am wondering if Holder is really a child of Betsey Jane, who later married Holder Dennis? However, he is living with Philip & Abby in 1850, not with Holder & Betsey. | Manchester, Holder W. D. (I12250)
| I am wondering if Niles Perce is really Giles Pearce, Jr. (needs research) | Perce, Niles (I02353)
| I am wondering if shoe could be Mary E. Grant 27 RI (NY/RI) in the 1930 census, single and boarding at Providence, occupation stenographer? | Bolster, Mary Elizabeth (I23399)
| I believe Daniel may have died a very tragic death. From "The History of Cheshire," p. 11: "One winter, Daniel Remington, son of Col. Remington, left for Adams on a Saturday morning to replenish his stock of leather. He was the settlement shoemaker as well as the poet. On his return to the hill in the afternoon, he was overtaken by a severe snow storm and lost his way. A search party found him the next morning 'standing erect with his hands tightly clasped to the rails of a rude fence a short distance from his home.' He was frozen to death." "He was of a very happy and jovial disposition and was the village poet." (source: "Berkshire Genealogist" Vol. 26 No. 4 Fall 2005, p. 128; reprinted from "The Berkshire Hills" of 1900/01) This must have been Daniel, the son of John, who was a shoemaker. "Daniel Remington had thge reputation of making the finest shoe of any one in the country." ("The History of Cheshire" by Raynor and Petticlerc, p 97) The 1820 Federal Census lists a Daniel T. Remington and family at Cheshire (6 in household). BSR says he was "of Maine." (no source documentation) | Remington, Daniel (I04038)
| I believe Elizabeth was married to a Mr. Shaw before she married Stephen Chafee. There are Shaw children living with the Chafee family in some of the censuses. Chafee, Elizabeth Dane, wife of Stephen B., born Apr. 11, 1835, died Oct. 22, 1894. (source: http://dunhamwilcox.net/ct/indian_hill_1.htm) | Shaw, Elizabeth Dane (I00247)
| I believe he must be the Andrew J. Remington who was a Private in the RI 4th Infantry. He died in the Civil War. His name is engraved on the memorial monument on Rt. 116, Scituate, Rhode Island, "To the loyal men of Scituate, 1861 - 1865, died in service." | Remington, Andrew J. (I09123)
